Geography places a significant role in targeting nowadays societal challenges towards transformations to sustainability and reaching Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In this respect, using geospatial open sources software and available Earth Observation Data is critical for integrated research to tackle societal needs and offer alternatives for decision making.

The Workshop aims to discuss issues on:

  • Use of open source geospatial software and data for addressing human-environmental relationships, environmental threats and climate change impacts
  • Open source software and quality of geographical data
  • Use of Copernicus data on a free and open access basis
  • Teaching Geography in secondary school using open source software and data
